I’m Sarah, the photographer behind Latitude 49 Photography. Based on Vancouver Island, I specialize in cinematic and romantic wedding photography that blends editorial artistry with authentic storytelling. My work captures honest emotion, natural light, and timeless connection for couples who want imagery that feels intentional and deeply personal.

Alex and Darin’s love story began seven years ago at the University of Calgary, where a chance encounter through mutual friends turned into something extraordinary. Their relationship has been built on laughter, shared adventures, and the kind of partnership that only deepens with time. Their Vancouver Island engagement session was the perfect reflection of that balance—playful, heartfelt, and full of life.

Darin’s proposal was thoughtful and perfectly “them.” During a round at Kananaskis Country Golf Course, he asked Alex if they could hit a ball together from the elevated 4th tee onto the island green below. Alex laughed at the idea—calling it a little corny—but agreed. As she swung, expecting to hear his shot follow, she turned to find Darin down on one knee, ring in hand. What started as a playful moment became a memory they’ll never forget.

Alex describes herself as the “type B, unorganized, and busy” one, while Darin brings calm, balance, and level-headed energy. Together, they make the perfect team—whether on the golf course, traveling across the country, or spending quiet evenings at home with their dog, Winnie. Their relationship thrives in that harmony of contrast, built on humor and mutual support.
Adventure is at the heart of their love story. From dirt bike racing to surfing in Tofino, Alex and Darin are always chasing new experiences together. A standout chapter was when Alex competed in the women’s national motocross series across Western Canada—with Darin by her side as her mechanic. Whether on the road, in the water, or under the trees, they find joy in every journey they share.
For their engagement session, Alex and Darin wanted photos that felt natural, candid, and full of movement. We began at Kye Bay, where the calm shoreline and golden light created a relaxed, coastal atmosphere. From soft smiles to playful splashes, every frame radiated warmth and ease.
Next, we wandered through Seal Bay Nature Park, where towering evergreens and quiet trails offered an intimate, cinematic contrast to the open beach. The way they moved together—effortless, grounded, and full of laughter—made the session feel like a living love letter to their journey so far.
If Alex and Darin’s Vancouver Island engagement session inspired you, imagine what we could create together. Whether it’s an engagement, wedding, or elopement, I’d be honored to tell your story through my lens.
