Love, Laughter, and New Adventures: Matteo & Rebecca’s Engagement Story

November 1, 2024

Matteo and Rebecca’s love story is full of serendipitous connections, sweet moments, and shared passions. These two found each other online and quickly realized they had something special. Their engagement session was a beautiful blend of laughter, nostalgia, and nature, set against the backdrop of Comox Valley beaches.

A Chance Meeting That Led to Forever

Their journey began with Matteo taking a leap of faith, traveling all the way to Mission to meet Rebecca. Sparks flew instantly, and within months, they moved in together in Courtenay. As Rebecca brought her beloved cat, Mika, and they settled into their new life, Matteo’s family welcomed her with open arms. A year later, they were purchasing their first condo together and adopting another cat, Jynx. This was just the beginning of their life-long adventure.

The Proposal at Porteau Cove

Matteo knew he wanted to propose after just a year of dating, even though he’d initially planned to wait. With his heart set, he had Rebecca’s engagement ring custom-made by his cousin, giving it a touch of family heritage. Matteo recreated their first date at Porteau Cove Pier after a memorable visit to Britannia Mine. Surrounded by memories and with the ocean as their witness, he knelt down on one knee, asked her to marry him, and, with tears of joy, Rebecca said yes.

Every couple has those memorable, sometimes hilarious moments that solidify their bond, and for Matteo and Rebecca, it was a dinner date involving fajitas and a bathroom flood. Early in their relationship, while visiting Rebecca’s mom in Mission, a plumbing mishap led to water spilling out of the bathroom and down into the apartment below. While Rebecca was horrified, Matteo couldn’t help but laugh, comforting her amidst the chaos. That unexpected night has become one of their funniest memories together.

These two are true “otters,” as they love all things water—kayaking, fishing, and swimming. But they’re also big nerds at heart, sharing a love for Pokémon, manga, books, and Animal Crossing. Whether they’re playing with their cats or enjoying Timmie’s at the Courtenay Air Park, Matteo and Rebecca make the perfect pair. Their favorite places, like Porteau Cove, Kye Bay, Point Holmes, and the bird sanctuary, capture their love for nature and each other.

Matteo and Rebecca wanted their engagement photos to feel natural and unposed, capturing their unique dynamic and the way they light up around each other. From tender embraces on the beach to golden-hour smiles amidst the trees, every shot tells a piece of their story.

As they look forward to their wedding day, Matteo and Rebecca’s engagement session is a heartfelt reminder of the journey they’ve shared so far and the beautiful future they’re building together.
