This past holiday season, I had the joy of photographing Santa sessions in Campbell River at Holly Hill Farm from November 23 to December 15. It was every bit as magical as you might imagine—filled with laughter, festive spirit, and the kind of moments that remind us what makes this time of year so special. From wide-eyed children meeting Santa for the first time to families dressed in their holiday best, each session was a celebration of love, joy, and connection.

The Setting

Holly Hill Farm transformed into a winter wonderland for the Christmas Stable event. Twinkling lights adorned the barn while rustic holiday décor created a warm, inviting atmosphere. Families gathered around a beautifully decorated tree surrounded by cozy seating and festive props. The entire scene felt straight out of a holiday film—crafted to capture the heart of the season.

Santa’s Magic

The best part of every session was watching the moment children first spotted Santa. Their eyes widened, their smiles grew, and Christmas came alive before us. Santa himself was wonderful—patient, kind, and completely present with every child who stepped forward to share a wish list. From heartfelt hugs to giggles and shy smiles, every interaction was pure magic.

But it wasn’t just the kids who felt the spirit of the season. Santa’s warmth extended to parents, grandparents, and even pets. Whether cradling a newborn or laughing with a full family, he brought joy and nostalgia that made everyone feel like a kid again.

The Animals of Holly Hill

No visit to Holly Hill Farm would be complete without its adorable residents. Donkeys in Santa hats, curious goats, and gentle ponies added even more charm. Families loved interacting with the animals, and I couldn’t resist capturing candid moments between sessions—tiny hands petting soft noses, laughter echoing through the stables, and even Santa greeting a few furry friends.

Memorable Highlights

Each Santa session told a story of its own, but a few stood out:

  • A baby meeting Santa for the first time, eyes full of wonder.
  • A family surprising Santa with an ultrasound photo to announce a pregnancy.
  • Kids whispering wishes while parents wiped away happy tears.
  • Santa joining a child in “the floss” dance—pure joy for everyone watching.

Between sessions, the farm grew quiet. Soft laughter mixed with the sounds of nearby animals, creating a peaceful rhythm that reminded me why I love photographing stories like these.

A Holiday to Remember

Photographing Santa sessions at Holly Hill Farm was more than a seasonal event—it was a celebration of community, kindness, and the joy that comes from slowing down to appreciate life’s simple moments. Each smile, each laugh, and each photograph became a little piece of holiday magic preserved in time.

To every family who joined in the fun, thank you for letting me capture your Christmas memories. And to the team at Holly Hill Farm, thank you for creating such a welcoming, joy-filled space for the community to gather.
