A Seal Bay Engagement: Tyra & Keith’s Love Story on the Coast

May 19, 2025

April 19, 2025 – Vancouver Island, BC

Some stories start with fireworks — Tyra and Keith’s started with a lunch break at Walmart.

They met while working retail together, but it didn’t take long for Keith to ask Tyra to hang out during their shift. One shift turned into many, and now, four years later, they’re planning their forever together — with their October wedding coming up at 40 Knots Winery (and officiated by the lovely Nancy from Love and Joy!).

Their engagement session was the perfect mix of meaning and magic. We returned to Seal Bay, the very place where Keith proposed — which, by the way, was straight out of a romantic comedy in the best way. He had stashed the ring in his jacket pocket, took Tyra to breakfast to throw her off, and suggested a casual walk to the beach. When they stopped at a big rock for a photo, Tyra joked, “Just propose to me on the rock.”
Spoiler alert: he did.

Wandering Through the Woods & Along the Shore

Seal Bay offered everything they love — towering trees, soft filtered light, and a beach that felt like it was made just for them. Tyra wore a flowy sage and white maxi dress that caught the wind just enough to make everything feel a little ethereal. Keith kept it grounded with Carhartts and a neutral shirt that balanced the coastal and woodsy backdrops perfectly.

Their Kind of Love

Tyra and Keith are the kind of couple who are just easy to be around — sweet, low-key, and totally in sync and totally in love. They’re happiest on the couch, heading out for a dinner date, or at the casino with drinks (okay, Keith drinks… Tyra doesn’t — but she’s always down for a good time). They poke fun at their differences — from dancing (Tyra was a competitive dancer; Keith has what she lovingly calls “two left feet”) to jiu-jitsu (she’s into it, he’s not), and somehow it all just works.

Their first dance song? “Born to Love You” by LANCO. Fitting, right?

Looking Ahead

Their wedding day is set for this fall, and with rustic vibes, fairy lights, and cozy energy planned, I already know it’s going to be beautiful. This session was the perfect prelude — intimate, grounded, and filled with the kind of quiet love that says, “I’m home.”

Tyra, Keith — thank you for trusting me to capture your story. I can’t wait for October.
