I’m Sarah, the photographer behind Latitude 49 Photography. Based on Vancouver Island, I specialize in cinematic and romantic wedding photography that blends editorial artistry with authentic storytelling. My work captures honest emotion, natural light, and timeless connection for couples who want imagery that feels intentional and deeply personal.

On a quiet June afternoon, love took center stage inside Comox Valley Hospital. This intimate palliative wedding was arranged at the last minute for a young bride receiving care—a testament to resilience, community, and the power of love. Surrounded by family, staff, and friends, the couple exchanged vows in a space filled with tenderness and grace.
Some weddings take years to plan. Dresses tailored, timelines perfected, and every detail arranged. Yet, sometimes, love cannot wait. These are the moments that strip everything back to what truly matters—the ones that stay with you forever. Stephanie and Torian’s wedding was one of those.
On June 21, 2025, I had the honour of documenting the most emotional wedding of my career—a palliative ceremony held in the therapeutic gardens of Comox Valley Hospital. Stephanie, a young bride facing a terminal diagnosis, had been told she might not make it to her original wedding day. But love has its own timing, and this day unfolded exactly when it was meant to.
With less than twenty-four hours’ notice, a community rallied to make their wedding possible. A gown was donated. Florals appeared. A wooden arch was delivered and assembled in the gardens. Every contribution came from hearts eager to let love shine through.
The therapeutic garden, usually a place of reflection, transformed into a sanctuary of joy. The summer air was warm and still, filled with birdsong and the quiet reverence of something sacred.
Stephanie and Torian stood surrounded by their closest loved ones and exchanged vows that carried the weight of all they had endured. There was no aisle, no reception, no elaborate décor—just love in its truest form. Each glance between them felt like a promise, each breath a sacred vow.
This was a wedding without Pinterest boards or timelines—a moment suspended in time, powerful and unforgettable.
Just days later, on June 25, 2025, Stephanie passed away. Words fail to capture moments like these. All that remains is gratitude—gratitude for being trusted to tell such a sacred story, for witnessing a love so pure it transcended everything else.
In grief, there was still joy. In loss, there was still love. Stephanie’s courage and light will remain with me always. It was an honour to donate my time to document this chapter, a reminder that even in heartbreak, beauty endures.
Rest gently, beautiful soul. Your love story was extraordinary.
