Cinematic Composition. Documentary Truth. Editorial Refinement.

Cinematic wedding photography focuses on atmosphere, movement, and layered light. It captures the depth of a moment and the feeling of a place, whether that is wind off the Pacific or quiet forest shade in the Comox Valley.

Documentary wedding photography is rooted in observation. It allows space for real emotion, unscripted interaction, and genuine reactions without constant interruption.

Editorial influence brings structure and refinement to portraits. When it is time for couples or wedding party photographs, I guide with intention so your images feel polished while still remaining natural.

This blended approach creates wedding imagery that is honest, elevated, and timeless.

Telling the Soul of Your Love Story

Years from now, it will not be the perfectly arranged details you remember most. It will be the way their hand found yours during the ceremony. The sound of laughter cutting through nerves. The quiet pause before you walked down the aisle. My role is to preserve those moments with intention and to document your story as it unfolds, cinematic in atmosphere and documentary at its core.

It is not about perfection. It is about presence.

Meet Sarah

I am a Vancouver Island wedding photographer based in the Comox Valley. The rugged coastline, dense forests, and ever changing coastal light shape the way I see and document a wedding day. Place matters here, and I photograph each celebration with awareness of both the people and the landscape that hold it.

My approach blends cinematic storytelling with a documentary foundation and subtle editorial direction. I do not over stage or over direct. I pay attention. I step in when guidance is needed. I step back when it is not.

Couples often describe the experience as calm, steady, and easy. That is intentional. When you feel grounded, your photographs reflect it.

Meet Sarah, the photographer behind Latitude 49 Photography

Your wedding deserves to be experienced fully. I am there to ensure it is remembered that way.

Kind words from Vancouver Island wedding couples

Wedding photography is built on trust. It requires presence, intuition, and an understanding of how to move through a day without disrupting it. Here is what past couples have shared about their experience with Latitude 49 Photography.

We just got our sneak peeks back from Sarah at Latitude 49 Photography They are amazing and she was amazing to work with, so helpful and considerate with managing family during family portraits and so so so easy to work with to take the photos. The package we got included an engagement session and I absolutely adored all of the photos. I could not recommend her enough! She also has super reasonable prices and her talent is out of this world!

— Fiona & Josef

Sarah did our engagement and wedding photos for us. As people who are not super comfortable in front of a camera she was awesome at directing us, making us feel comfortable and making sure she captured the moments we cared about most. All of our wedding guests were commenting on how friendly and professional she was and how she overall was a pleasure to have around. For any future brides we would highly recommend choosing Latitude49Photography as your wedding/engagement photographer

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes cinematic documentary wedding photography different?

Cinematic documentary wedding photography blends atmosphere with authenticity. The day unfolds naturally without constant interruption, while portraits are guided with intention so they feel refined but never forced. The result is imagery that feels immersive, emotionally layered, and honest to how your wedding actually felt.

Do you photograph weddings outside the comox valley?

Yes. While I am based in the Comox Valley, I photograph weddings and elopements across Vancouver Island, including Victoria, Tofino, Nanaimo, and Campbell River. I am also available for destination celebrations beyond the island.

How far in advance should we book our Vancouver Island wedding photographer?

Most couples inquire twelve to eighteen months in advance, especially for summer and early fall dates. Popular weekends book quickly. If you are planning a shorter engagement or an off season wedding, it is still worth reaching out to check availability.

Do you help with wedding timelines?

Absolutely. I work closely with couples to build timelines that protect natural light, create breathing room, and allow the day to unfold without feeling rushed. A thoughtful timeline makes a significant difference in how your photographs feel.

What is the starting investment for wedding photography?

Wedding collections begin at a thoughtful starting point, with most couples investing in full day coverage that allows their story to unfold at a relaxed pace. After you inquire, I will share detailed collection information tailored to your celebration.

inquire about your date

If something about this space feels like home. If the softness, intention, and quiet way love is seen here speaks to you, I’d be honoured to learn more about your story.

This isn’t just photography. It’s memory. It’s meaning. It’s the beginning of your forever, preserved.

Let’s create the story you’ll return to for decades
