For couples who want their wedding to feel like themselves. Unhurried, genuine, and worth remembering.
Cinematic composition. Documentary storytelling. Editorial refinement.
Years from now, it won't be the perfectly arranged details that bring you back. It will be the way light fell through the trees during your portraits. The tremor in your hands while getting ready. The laughter during speeches that nobody saw coming. The quiet pause between the ceremony and the first dance, when the two of you were briefly alone.
These are the moments that disappear fastest and the ones worth preserving most.
Latitude 49 Photography is built around that truth. Every wedding and session is documented with attention to atmosphere, movement, and emotional honesty. Not just how it looked, but how it felt to be there.
My approach is calm, observational, and intentionally low-pressure. During portraits, I offer clear direction so nothing feels awkward or overly staged, then step back and let the day unfold naturally around you.
The result is imagery that feels relaxed and emotionally true, rather than polished for performance. From the anticipation of getting ready through to the last song of the night, every part of your day is documented with care for the atmosphere, the connection, and the experience of actually being there.

Behind the lens
I am the photographer behind Latitude 49 Photography, based in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island.
Living here has shaped the way I see weddings. Coastal light shifts quickly. Forests have texture and depth that interior venues rarely offer. Open water changes everything about atmosphere. I am drawn to all of it, and to the couples who choose to be married somewhere that means something to them.
My work blends documentary storytelling with an editorial eye for composition and light. Whether you're planning a quiet elopement on a remote coastline or a full wedding celebration surrounded by your closest people, the approach stays the same: photographs that feel immersive, emotionally honest, and crafted with intention.
A photographer’s guide to creating a wedding day that feels relaxed, well-paced, and beautifully documented.
Inside the guide, you will find advice on timelines, lighting, engagement sessions, location planning, and creating space for genuine moments throughout your wedding day. Built specifically with Vancouver Island weddings in mind, including coastal weather, seasonal light, and how to create a day that flows naturally without feeling rushed.
