My work blends cinematic storytelling with refined editorial portraiture to create imagery that feels natural, atmospheric, and deeply connected to the place where it happened. Whether standing on a windswept beach, beneath towering coastal forests, or surrounded by the people who matter most, the moments that shape a wedding day are never manufactured. They unfold naturally. The role of a photographer is simply to recognize them when they appear and preserve them beautifully.

Meet Sarah
I am the photographer behind Latitude 49 Photography, based in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island.
Living on Vancouver Island has deeply shaped the way I photograph. The forests, shifting ocean light, and rugged coastlines constantly influence how I frame a moment. Before I ever photographed weddings, I spent years photographing landscapes, learning how light moves across water, through trees, and over mountains. That early connection to landscape photography still guides my work today. The environment is never just a backdrop. It becomes part of the story.
I also grew up as the child of a military father, which meant moving around and learning early how meaningful the moments with the people around you truly are. Alongside photography, I have also worked in healthcare for the past 16 years. That experience has shaped the way I show up for people with calm, empathy, and attentiveness during moments that matter.
My approach is observant and intentional. I offer direction when it is helpful, but I also step back when genuine moments begin to unfold. From intimate coastal elopements to full wedding celebrations surrounded by family and friends, my goal is always the same. Create imagery that feels honest, cinematic, and meaningful long after the day itself has passed.

I approach every wedding day or session with a documentary mindset, observing the small interactions, quiet anticipation, and emotional moments that make each moment unique.
Portraits are guided but never forced. Movement, natural light, and the surrounding landscape all play an important role in shaping how your images feel.
The result is photography that feels cinematic, effortless, and true to the story of your day.
Where you'll find me
On a quiet Vancouver Island beach, usually with a camera nearby and the ocean just a few steps away.
Exploring waterfalls and forest trails with my other half, always chasing the kind of light that makes you stop for a moment.
Looking up at the night sky and remembering how small and beautiful the world can feel.
