Hi, I’m Sarah

I grew up all over the world in a military family, but it was here — in the forests, oceans, and rugged trails of the Comox Valley — that I truly found home. Surrounded by Vancouver Island’s wild beauty, I picked up a camera in 2020 and discovered what I had been searching for: a way to tell stories through imagery that feels alive.

What began as a love for landscapes quickly transformed into something deeper — capturing the raw, fleeting connections between people. From laughter on a mountaintop to a quiet embrace by the ocean, my passion is preserving the moments that feel cinematic yet honest, elevated yet deeply personal.

Today, I photograph weddings, elopements, couples, and families with that same sense of wonder that first drew me in. My philosophy is simple: the best moments aren’t staged. They’re genuine, unposed, and full of connection. My goal is to create imagery that feels timeless and cinematic — photographs that preserve the emotion of your day in a way you can return to, again and again.

When I’m not behind the lens, you’ll find me chasing waterfalls, camping under the stars, or boating along Vancouver Island’s rugged coastline with my forever person, Brodie, and our two dogs. After 15 years in healthcare, I’ve learned that what matters most is connection — and that belief is at the heart of every photograph I create.

Your Photographer, Storyteller, and Adventure-Seeker

Let’s begin Your Story

In the End, It’s the Memories That Remain

latitude 49 Photography was created from a love of storytelling and the wild, cinematic beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Because when the day is over, it’s never the décor or the timeline you remember — it’s the fleeting, unforgettable moments. The stolen glances. The laughter that echoes. The quiet, unspoken gestures that define your love.

Those are the memories I preserve — artful, intentional, and alive with the essence of your story.

BEHIND THE LENS

I was born overseas and grew up in a military family, so I like to think I’ve had adventure in my blood from day one.

Forget picking just one shade—my favourite colour is the forest. The deep greens of moss, the golden light streaming through trees, and the earthy browns of the trails all fill my soul. It’s my ultimate inspiration and happy place.

When I’m not behind the camera, you might find me on a pole. Yep, I’m a pole dancer, and it’s one of my favourite ways to stay strong, confident, and have a blast.

Certified Smut Enthusiast

Give me a smutty fantasy book and I’m gone for hours (or days). Bonus points if it has a broody hero, badass heroine, and a ridiculous amount of tension.

My sense of humor is as dry as a martini, and my sarcasm game is strong. Basically, if we can’t laugh like 12-year-olds together, are we even friends?

I’m the person who’ll snort-laugh mid-conversation or wave at someone who wasn’t actually waving at me. Awkward is my natural habitat, and I’ve learned to fully embrace it.

I trip over air, bump into walls, and drop things daily, but hey, it keeps life interesting. Graceful? Not so much. Entertaining? Always.

Animal Whisperer

Aside from my own two pups, I will absolutely befriend any dog, cat, or random wildlife I come across. The birds that hit my windows are my besties

Sarah was so easy to work with from start to finish.

She is so organized and really listened to what was important to us and planned the shots she took accordingly. She also took the time to research our chosen venue and came up out some really cool photo ideas before we arrived. Sarah made everyone feel comfortable (which includes a husband and a feisty toddler). Because everyone felt so at ease, she was able to capture some truly authentic moments that I absolutely love! I would definitely book Latitude 49 Photography again

I definitely recommend Sarah for your family photo sessions!

Sarah was so lovely to work with, extremely personable and easy going, she made it feel so easy and natural instead of awkward. This isn’t easy with kids and babies included! Plus I’m in love with the photos capturing us doing what we love, playing at the beach! I definitely recommend Sarah for your family photo sessions!

They are amazing and she was amazing to work with, so helpful and considerate with managing family during family portraits and so so so easy to work with to take the photos. The package we got included an engagement session and I absolutely adored all of the photos. I could not recommend her enough! She also has super reasonable prices and her talent is out of this world!
