There is something special about photographing couples who invite you into their full story—not only their love as partners, but the life they’ve built together. That’s exactly what Erica and Andrew did when they turned their engagement session into a family session with their kids.

A Modern Love Story

These two met in the most modern way—a single swipe that led to something extraordinary. More than five years later, their connection has deepened as they prepare to say “I do” in sunny Mexico. Before palm trees and ocean waves, we celebrated their love right here on Vancouver Island, wrapped in a gentle spring breeze and golden light.

Their proposal story is one for the books. During a family getaway to Victoria, Andrew proposed in their hotel suite overlooking the harbour. The sweetest part? Their kids were in on it from the start—and somehow kept it a secret for weeks. That kind of teamwork defines a love story all its own.

What I loved most about this session was how effortlessly natural it felt. Erica and Andrew are warm, genuine, and full of laughter. Every moment unfolded seamlessly, from quiet glances between them to playful, sand-filled adventures with their kids. We spent the afternoon soaking in the April sun while the tide set our pace. Soft light, ocean air, and joyful chaos filled every frame.

My goal was to capture the blend of romance and real life—the giggles, the gentle touches, and the unfiltered joy of a family completely at ease together.

A Story That Feels Like Home

This session reminded me that love doesn’t always shout. It exists in shared laughter, in the way two people look at each other after years together, and in the warmth of family connection. Photographing Erica and Andrew felt like documenting a love that’s deeply rooted yet wildly free—a love that feels like home.

Next Stop: Mexico

Soon, we’ll be trading driftwood and Pacific winds for palm trees and turquoise waves. I can already picture the barefoot dances, ocean light, and sunshine that will fill their destination wedding. Vancouver Island was the start of this chapter, but Mexico is where the next begins—and I can’t wait to capture every moment of it.
