Welcome to my blog. This is a space where stories, artistry, and love come together. Here, I share the heart of my photography, the lessons I have gathered along the way, and the personal journey that continues to shape my creative path. Whether you are an engaged couple, a fellow photographer, or someone who simply loves meaningful imagery, I am so glad you are here.
My name is Sarah and I am the eye and heart behind Latitude 49 Photography. I was born in Germany, spent years in Alberta, and now I call the breathtaking Comox Valley home. Each chapter of my life has influenced my art, from wide open prairies to the misty forests and coastlines of Vancouver Island. These landscapes have taught me how environment shapes emotion and how a single frame can hold an entire story.
My professional background began in healthcare where I trained as a Rehabilitation Assistant at SAIT in Calgary. That work has been deeply fulfilling and continues to remind me how important it is to honour the moments that matter most. Photography, however, revealed a deeper calling. What started with landscapes soon became a way to preserve the essence of people, their love, and their connections.
Today, my passion lies in wedding and elopement photography. My approach is rooted in storytelling and inspired by the raw, unfiltered emotions of the couples I work with. I believe photography is more than documentation. It is memory, legacy, and art that comes alive each time you return to it.
This blog is where I share wedding inspiration, elopement guides, photography tips, and reflections from my creative journey. It is designed to be a resource for couples planning their day, for photographers who are growing in their craft, and for anyone who values art that feels intentional and timeless.
Thank you for visiting. I cannot wait to share the stories, ideas, and inspiration that are waiting to unfold here. Together we can create something beautiful that feels true to who you are and the love you share.
