Kathryn & Airell’s Forest and Beach Engagement Session: A Love Rooted in Adventure

Every couple’s love story is unique, and Kathryn and Airell’s is beautifully grounded in the outdoors, laughter, and shared adventures. Their engagement session, held on a warm evening in September, was a perfect reflection of their journey together—from the peaceful forest trails to the soft sands of the beach.

Into the Woods

Our session began in a tranquil, wooded area, chosen to match the vibe of Woodland Gardens, where Kathryn and Airell will soon tie the knot. Surrounded by towering trees, they shared quiet moments, leaning into each other as the golden light filtered through the branches. The forest’s calm atmosphere was the ideal backdrop for these two, who first met online in Campbell River and have shared five years of love, laughter, and outdoor adventures since then. Airell embraced Kathryn from behind—a must-have shot they requested—capturing a moment of pure affection.

Beach Bliss

As we moved to the beach, the mood lightened, and so did their playful energy. With gentle waves and the sun setting over the water, Kathryn and Airell’s connection truly shone. They laughed and spun around, breaking into the kind of candid moments that capture their spirit. Thinking back to their proposal story they shared: a hiking trip with their dog to Stillwater Bluffs, where Airell popped the question over a charcuterie picnic overlooking the water. This beach felt like a fitting place to celebrate that memory.

Moments to Remember

Throughout the session, their love for the outdoors was evident, from the stories they shared to the joy on their faces. One particularly funny story they told me about their first road trip across the province in 2020. While enjoying a romantic riverside moment in Hedley, Airell lost his sandal and didn’t hesitate to belly surf down the shallow rapids to retrieve it, injuring his toe but creating a memory they’d laugh about for years.

Whether it’s mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, or paddle boarding, Kathryn and Airell are always up for adventure. They even enjoy skijoring (yes, I had to look this up) and biking with their husky, finding endless ways to explore and embrace nature together. However, they’re not always perfectly aligned—Kathryn is a stickler for the rules, while Airell admits to bending them (ducking ropes and fences is apparently a common theme!).

Forever Starts Here

Capturing these two in settings they love was an honour. I cannot wait to capture their wedding day! Here’s to many more sunsets, hikes, and oceanside picnics as they continue this beautiful journey together.
