I’m Sarah, the photographer behind Latitude 49 Photography. Based on Vancouver Island, I specialize in cinematic and romantic wedding photography that blends editorial artistry with authentic storytelling. My work captures honest emotion, natural light, and timeless connection for couples who want imagery that feels intentional and deeply personal.

There is something incredibly special about photographing a family in the comfort of their own home. No studio lights, no stiff poses, just the quiet beauty of real life unfolding. This in-home newborn session was filled with all the things I love most — soft morning light, tender moments, and the kind of love that makes time stand still.

When I arrived, the house was calm and bathed in a gentle glow from the windows. The nursery door was slightly open, revealing soft tones and thoughtful details — a cozy blanket draped over the crib, a small stack of storybooks, and tiny clothes neatly folded on the dresser. The space already felt alive with love and anticipation.
In-home sessions have a unique intimacy that can’t be replicated anywhere else. It’s where your story already lives — the place where you brought your baby home, where first feedings, tiny yawns, and quiet lullabies echo through the walls. It’s an environment that allows everyone to relax, breathe, and simply be.
Throughout the session, I focused on capturing the genuine connection between parents and baby. The way mom’s hand instinctively soothed her newborn. The quiet pride in dad’s smile as he cradled his child. The laughter that bubbled up between them as they realized just how much love could fit in such a small space.
There were pauses for diaper changes and coffee refills, moments that might seem ordinary but are, in truth, the heart of it all. Those in-between moments — the stretch, the yawn, the soft sigh of contentment — are where the story lives.
For this session, I kept things simple and natural. We used the soft light filtering through the windows to highlight textures and warmth — the knit blanket, the baby’s tiny fingers, the tender embrace between parents. No elaborate setups, just authentic emotion framed by the beauty of their everyday life.
Neutral tones, cozy layers, and unhurried pacing created an atmosphere that felt both timeless and heartfelt. Every photo tells a piece of their story — love in its most honest form.

In-home newborn sessions allow families to stay comfortable while preserving the fleeting details of early parenthood. There’s no rush, no need to pack diaper bags or worry about schedules. Instead, you get to spend the morning loving on your baby while I quietly document the beauty of those first days together.
For me, these sessions are a reminder of how photography can hold space for emotion — the exhaustion, the joy, the peace, and the chaos that all coexist when a new life begins.

This session was everything I love about newborn photography. It was warm, unpolished in the best way, and deeply human. The kind of morning that reminds me why I do what I do — to preserve love as it really is.
If you are a new parent or expecting, and you want your story told in a way that feels true to you, I would be honoured to capture it. Reach out here to start planning your session. Let’s document the real-life magic that fills your home.
