I’m Sarah, the photographer behind Latitude 49 Photography. Based on Vancouver Island, I specialize in cinematic and romantic wedding photography that blends editorial artistry with authentic storytelling. My work captures honest emotion, natural light, and timeless connection for couples who want imagery that feels intentional and deeply personal.
Every wedding day carries its own rhythm. My workflow is built to honour that rhythm, preserve emotion, and deliver a gallery that feels intentional and deeply personal. While every love story is unique, the care and process behind my work remains consistent. This is the full behind the scenes of how your wedding moves from real time moments to your final gallery.
Preparation begins before the day arrives. The night before your wedding I charge my gear, pack my bags, and review your timeline and family dynamics. I want to know every detail so I can move through the day with confidence and intention. I also create a small Pinterest mood board as an inspiration touchstone for the creative direction.
One week before your date you receive a pre wedding email with helpful reminders. This includes creating a clutter free getting ready space, prepping outfits, eating beforehand, and ensuring good light in the room. Small preparations make a meaningful difference in your photos.
When possible I scout the venue during the same time portraits will take place. If I cannot visit in person, I ask you to send photos of possible portrait spots so we can plan together.
When I arrive, I settle into the story. I document candid moments, emotion filled interactions, editorial portraits, landscape details, and everything in between. I am an overshooter because moments are fleeting. I would rather capture too much than risk missing something meaningful. Later I refine everything with a deliberate and selective cull.
When I return home, your photos are backed up immediately onto two external hard drives. Only after your images are safe do I begin the import process. This step protects your memories before anything else happens.
I cull the following day while your wedding is still fresh in my mind. I use Aftershoot to speed up the initial pass and then refine everything manually. This blend of tools and human intention ensures your gallery keeps only the strongest and most meaningful frames.
My editing workflow combines trained consistency with artistic attention. Aftershoot applies a base edit using a preset I have developed. From there I edit every image by hand. I mask subjects to draw attention where it matters, use gradients to balance or enhance light, refine tones, correct distractions, and ensure each frame feels cinematic and cohesive.
I edit in sets of one hundred images at a time. This protects my eyes and prevents tone blindness so your gallery receives consistent, elevated attention.
Once the full gallery is edited I export images into organized folders and complete a final round of refinements in Photoshop. After that I reimport the finished images to create their black and white versions so both sets feel connected and intentional.
Sneak peeks arrive within seventy two hours. Full galleries are delivered within twelve weeks although most arrive between six and eight.
This workflow exists to honour your day with intention and artistry. When you open your gallery, I want you to feel the emotion as if you are reliving the experience through my eyes.
