I’m Sarah, the photographer behind Latitude 49 Photography. Based on Vancouver Island, I specialize in cinematic and romantic wedding photography that blends editorial artistry with authentic storytelling. My work captures honest emotion, natural light, and timeless connection for couples who want imagery that feels intentional and deeply personal.

There is something special about Heritage Acres, the way the quiet farmland, white chapel, and historic buildings create an atmosphere that feels timeless. Fiona and Josef chose this space with intention. They wanted a celebration that felt intimate, welcoming, and centred on reconnecting with family and friends. Their day unfolded with ease and a sense of togetherness that matched the charm of the historic grounds.

The day began with a soft and calm anticipation as guests made their way toward the small church. I met with Fiona at her Aunt and Uncles home that overlooked the ocean near Moses Point. Before the ceremony, her bridesmaids Teresa and Kara joined her for a few quiet portraits.
The ceremony took place outside the classic white Heritage Acres chapel. Guests gathered as Fiona and Josef exchanged vows filled with emotion and sincerity. This moment was one they had been anticipating the most. After years of distance from family and friends, having everyone present for their union felt incredibly grounding and meaningful.

One of the most memorable moments came after the vows. Following a tradition from Josef’s background, the couple cut through a log together with a two handed saw. It was symbolic, joyful, and the kind of ritual that instantly becomes a wedding highlight. Their laughter echoed through the space as everyone cheered them on. It was so special to see their friends and family gather to help stabilize the log.

Following the ceremony, guests made their way toward cocktail hour and the iconic Heritage Acres train. Once wedding party portraits wrapped, Fiona and Josef joined their guests for the train ride through the property. It felt playful and nostalgic, fitting perfectly with the relaxed energy of their day.

After enjoying the train ride, we set off under the large willow trees to capture their couples portraits. The way the sun glowed through the willow branches was to die for.
Dinner began at the reception hall where the atmosphere quickly filled with conversation and easy laughter. Heartfelt speeches followed, offering stories and gentle moments that brought the room together. Instead of a cake cutting, the couple served homemade pies baked by their guests. It was a sentimental touch that made the evening feel personal and inviting.

As the evening unfolded, dancing began naturally. Fiona and Josef chose not to choreograph a first dance, letting the moment evolve on its own. Friends and family joined them on the dance floor under the golden hour sky while music drifted out into the open summer air. It was relaxed, real, and full of joy.
This Heritage Acres wedding was a celebration of connection, history, and thoughtful moments. Fiona and Josef created a space where everything felt honest to who they are. Nothing rushed, nothing over planned. Just a warm and beautiful evening surrounded by people who love them. It was a wedding full of special touches that were so different from any of the weddings I photographed this year and it was one that I will always remember
